the sky began to morph into a gentle marmalade, autumn’s fingertips weaved through the apricot leaves and her breath spun pirouettes throughout the atmosphere, kissing the cheeks of whomever remained wandering the streets of the village. the young woman’s bright scarlet nose ran due to autumn’s unforgiving chilly breath, the air frosting ice over the surface of her skin.

the locks of her ringlets flew behind her, the pads of her fingers burrowing into the silk of her kimono to keep the material in place. cold tears brimmed the outskirts of her eyelids and her throat burned with excruciating flames, as if autumn had simply taken a match and threw it down her throat.

yet, she paid her pain no mind. agonizing as it was, her feet moved nimbly against the village’s pavement, her head bowing in greeting to the reverent villagers’ salutes as she passed by. she grimaced herself discreetly, veiling her expression behind her own tresses.

she should have known it would be hard to lay low and saunter through the streets unnoticed— she was the chatelaine of lord jinyoung after all. the whole village knew of her, knew of how she had single handedly saved their lord— her popularity was practically inevitable.

perhaps, if underneath different circumstances, she wouldn’t have minded the sudden traction, after all— who wouldn’t fancy being the talk of the town?

of course she wouldn’t have minded— if she hadn’t been trying to sneak around.

it wasn’t an easy task, even disregarding the fact that she would have to mindlessly amble in front of the entire village with every single person on the street ecstatically exclaiming her name. indeed, it was definitely not easy to manage her way past lord jinyoung’s vassals, as well as lord jinyoung herself.

difficult, that man was. he was quite the unopened novel, his story a million pages long at least. throughout her time as his chatelaine, she had made countless attempts to figure him out, desperately trying to open the cover of his book. alas, it was as if he had sealed himself away, thick chains and heavy locks around the surface of his novel.

even so, there was one thing that he had made clear from the very start of her occupancy as his chatelaine.

“my lucky charm, you are,” he had said, a cheshire smile plastering over his lips, which up until this moment, had always been pressed into a firm thin line. “i believe that as long as you are at my side, never will i fail. i believe that because you are at my side, i will succeed in unifying this entire nation.”

she scoffed at the mere memory. what a chore, he was.

swiftly, she disregarded the thought of her lord jinyoung, disregarded her occupancy as his chatelaine, disregarded her castle life and everything related and in between. as she scuttled into the inn and nimbly made her way through the rather unimpressive corridors compared to the castle’s, her mind became a murky slime, her brain intoxicated by the sound of merely one name.

she made her presence known with a quiet knock on the sh��ji screen door, brisk to tear it away, as it was the only barrier blockading her away from him— the only one she craved.

and there he sat, his weapons and armor stowed away in a dark corner of the inn room, charcoal silk sewn into a kimono complimenting his physique as sat upright on the futon, the tips of his fingers teasing at his lips as his elbow rested upon his kneecap. her feet shifted underneath her weight as she stood in front of the shōji, her insides churning at the mere sight of him.

“i’ve been waiting,” his tone low, laced with the hint of something menacing, a sinister echo concluding his words. she shivered, as if his voice was ice, the bitter feeling of frost stiffening her limbs gluing her into place.

he must’ve sensed the sudden discomfiture, the unveiling of his pearly whites prodding at her nerves, knees visibly buckling underneath the putty her legs seemed to melt into. he watched with curious eyes as she scurried over to his place on the futon, hastily dropping to her knees before him.

the gleam inside the ebony of his pupils did not go unnoticed. she felt meek, feeble even as his leering eyes fell upon her like a minacious shadow, irises outlining her figure, seeking every curve and venturing through every mark he had mapped out on her body. he leaned forward, stature eclipsing the small matrix of light from the candle, the only thing keeping the small room from complete darkness.

her skin swelled with heat as his fingertips ghosted over her clothed skin, toying with the fabric of her kimono. the room was quiet— with the exception of her shuddering breath permeating the heated atmosphere between the two. the air was thick with unequivocal libido, the fog of lust that came thick with each of his chest enough to weigh heavy on her own lungs, so much she could have sworn that she would simply suffocate.

“i apologize for having kept you waiting, lord jaebeom,” her voice wavered, her feeble tone strumming his strings, a stroke of laughter emitting from his lips. her cheeks-- which had already been tinted with a bright scarlet-- darkened, ripples of crimson waving over her flesh. the pad of his index finger waltzed over her skin, outlining the edge of her jawline, pirouetting back up to the soft flesh of her ear.

with the same finger, he beckoned her forward, eyelids hooding over the warm umber of his irises, the sinister shadow cast upon his face as menacing as ever. her nerves tied themselves into miniature, twitching balls-- and never before had she ever felt this meek.

“enough with the formalities,” his tone echoed-- not only throughout the room, but throughout her body as well, the smooth water that was his voice rippling throughout her mind, trickling down her esophagus as if it were a waterfall, and flooding her core, burning her arousal with a bittersweet passion. the heat at her center was utterly unbearable, the matches of his fingertips driving her closer to the point of no return. “i plan on wasting no more time, tonight, i want you-- all of you.”

it was silly how she had already been left speechless, breathless even, when he had done something only as simple as graze a single digit over her skin. she scolded herself mentally for being so vulnerable, so submissive and willing. however, the more he touched her and cooed, the more she could feel herself sink deeper and deeper into this void of subservience, blinded by the darkness of his lust.

he advanced closer, striding like an eager predator until he neared his prey, making it to his destination. for a moment-- just this moment-- she disregarded the fact that he was supposed to be her enemy, that he was a trespasser, that he was a blood-thirsty lord, lord mark’s-- of all people--’s most sensible and reliable vassal. for just the current moment, she disregarded the fact that the blood of a century ran down his hands, that many men of various classes and titles have been at the mercy of the very man she had a blooming fondness for. for a moment, she disregarded the fact that the very hands touching her so tenderly right now were the very hands responsible for the deaths of many men.

as she gazed into the menacing sea of carob that raged within his irises, she found herself swimming through the very sea, eager to venture for more-- more of him. his pupils glimmered, gleams beaming reflecting onto his waters as though a comet had been shooting past his night sky. beautiful-- he was undeniably, utterly beautiful.

he stared back, and for a moment, she was so entranced underneath whatever spell he had cast upon her, that she hadn’t even the slightest idea that he had worked the silk of her kimono down past her shoulders, the smooth material gliding its way down her arms to pool at her thighs. his fingertips were of matches, each stroke of his hot skin leaving trails of burning scarlet along her flesh, igniting flames and scarring her with the remnants of his own selfish ardor.

his matches reached her swollen nipples, her lips falling agape at the simple touch of his skin against her own, eyelids weighing down heavy upon her corneas before they eventually sealed themselves closed, losing herself in this wondrous feeling.

“please, do not close your eyes,” he husked, fingertips grazing an astray strand of hair back behind her ear as his other hand roamed the side of her body, soothing over the curve of her hip. her lids slowly heaved themselves back open, melted irises flooding into his. just staring at the look inside of his eyes reduced her to a gooey pool of magma at his feet. “i’ve been deprived of them for so long, please don’t veil them away from me. i want to cherish every single part of you.”

the arch of his hand curved as it reached to cup her cheek, tugging her even closer than before. his lips-- plump and lush-- were nearing, their breaths mingling until they became one in the same. his eyes-- they glimmered with the radiance of something that up until this point, had been foreign to her, an enigma-- he was an enigma in itself. but no longer was he an enigma, for she was certain that she finally had him all figured him out.

his pupils sparkled with desperation, of longing, of need. the message was crystal clear before her, no words to be required. before her lips could even finish their smile, his lips were upon her own, their dampened flesh molding into one. his nectar fell from his mouth and streamed into her own, his flavor soaking her taste buds and mixing into her own. her arms leaped away from her lap, enclosing around his neck and pulling him in even closer-- as if it were possible.

she was entranced, bewitched, mesmerized by his spell, she wasn’t even sure when he had laid her down on the futon, the plush of the thin mattress beneath her relaxing the knots of tension within her body. his hands continued their venture, mapping out each mark and delicacy upon her skin, as if the first few times he had done so were not enough. she worked at the charcoal colored silk of his own robe, itching to tear it away from his skin so that once more, their skin could connect, mold together, become one.

“jaebeom,” she mewled his name as his growing erection grazed against her nude arousal, sucking in air between her teeth as his lips tore themselves away from hers, imprinting his mark on the flesh just below her jaw. her fingertips weaved themselves through the forest of ebony tendrils atop his head, tugging at the roots of his tresses, as if her goal was to rip his scalp off from the top of his own head. “jaebeom!”

his lips trod down the valley of her breasts, down the river stream of her stomach until finally, they found their destination at the heated bundle of nerves, teasing just above her clitoris. noises spewed from her lips, her tongue swiping over the flesh of her bottom lip before her upper layer of teeth replaced the soft muscle, gnawing on the moist skin.

“i love you, my princess,” he murmured, his tone a low hum, his hot breath against her throbbing clit driving her over the edge. she was unable to control herself, she had become animalistic, obsessed with the idea of having him close, of having the two of them become one. she yearned for more, she wanted more, she needed more.

“what would your lord jinyoung think when he sees the mark of another man upon your skin, hm?” he rasped as drew nearer, teasing her aching cunt with a single prod of his cock. she whimpered, mewled, squirmed, writhed around underneath his weight as the tip of his tongue lapped over the sensitive flesh of her earlobe, icy breath a stark contrast to the heat of their skin. she shivered as his air fanned over the place he had just coated with his own saliva, her head shaking.

“i don’t give a damn,” she had been so out of breath, it had barely been audible enough to decipher. his irises-- those hypnotizing irises of dark umber-- gazed down into her own yet again, and yet again, did she feel herself sink deeper into the rabbit hole of intimacy. “i am his chatelaine, nothing more. why would he care?”

Now that I’m done with... almost everything that I’m aware of, some sidequest stuff:  

The ones with Naku Weed and Crystal Marrow requirements on Yashiori Island are quite rude in how much they need. I don’t have an issue with the content, but why so much of such rare materials....! 

Chouji’s was pretty sad stuff. I wonder where it’s all going with his mom (and him?) getting picked up by the pirates. If it’s going anywhere, that is. 

The solider guy who is initially very hostile and then slowly warms up to you after we scold him was also nice. Until, you know, the end. Inazuma’s side quests are good, but they are pretty depressing! 

I even liked the doctor who was invited by the army but refused because the local people need him more. 

There is one for Alrani, the Sumeru researcher we had to rescue from Treasure Hoarders before Alrani. I like her pitiful story about how she first wanted to study the Four Winds but then Stormterror, and then she wanted to study Rex Lapis but then he dropped dead, and how being held hostage is still better than writing a paper... Relatable(tm). Seriously, how is the dialogue for the side quests so much better? 

There’s one with a reference to Diluc’s quest, with alcohol equipment attracting slimes. There’s actually a lot of small references like this which often work quite well. I like it. 

There’s one from Atsuko back in Liyue. While she’s been gone, a tanuki started impersonating her after her parents helped it. It even brought back all kinds of nuts and seeds for them in repayment lol

Initially the Gourmet trio got on my nerves when I first met them just outside Ritou, but toward the end they grew on me? What a bunch of losers, I say this with love. Probably it’s because my mood toward Inazuma is very good, but also I liked Julie. Her being fine with fighting but getting lost because she focuses too much on the battle is funny, as is her yelling at Xudong to stop their team member from doing weird things again.. 

There is also one about the Thunder Sakura on the middle island(s), which is separate from the Narukami Sakura. We have a few interesting lore points, like that the Thunder Sakura is suppressing a “him.” The Tatarigami? I’m not sure though, because its main body is on Yashiori and its core being moved to Tatarasuna is recent thing... I think? Also notable is that the Fatui were trying to extract the Thunder Sakura’s power and channel it into an Electro Hypostasis, which they somehow transported over in an inert state. Their research and goals are more unclear than ever. More importantly, Miyuki was great. Her asking for help doesn’t come across as annoying because she clearly states why -- she can’t fight and the military is unhelpful. Her chasing down the treasure hoarder until he begged for mercy was really funny. 

And of course, Xavier was very... lol.

I DID ANOTHER ONE I AM ON FIRE WOW. 

This time, however, no weapons. Well, I guess weapons against dust and rust and damages done to the ship? These are Cleo’s SpiderBots! I read of the concepts in one of @martuzzio​ ‘s asks and I just. It was mine. I wanted to design it.

Now, as always, these designs are for the Space Outlaws AU by Marzo. So idk, you can use it for stuff and headcanons if you like, but please do tag and credit me!

SpiderBot Functionality

These bots were designed by Cleo herself to help out around the ship with repairs, cleaning and who knows, they could probably help Beef in the kitchen. They are designed to be able to get around basically anywhere and in any conditions. For this reason they are occasionally used as scouter bots, though those types are usually smaller than the main ones. There are sensors on the bot’s “head” that pick up signals sent from the control device (more on the Crown later) and then these send the signal to the main body of the spider where it is quickly processed and sent to the corresponding limbs, similar to how the brain works. The bots get their power from high-tech energy capsules (referred to as batteries in the diagram), and the bulk of the processing technology for commands is underneath the battery capsule in the abdomen and inside the main body. There is also a small coil of wire that functions as a safety rope for spiderbots to drop from the ceiling, and also to latch onto metal surfaces using a magnet, and other surfaces with the suction cup on top of the magnet. More specific info on how grappling hooks work can be found in the shock collar grappling hook gun (wow a mouthful) that I designed for Ren The Control Crown

This crown is VERY high technology here. It reads and processes brainwaves, encoding clear commands and broadcasting the signal in a special code only the spiderbots can unscramble and act upon. These brainwave encoding devices are VERY sensitive to variations in the command, and so one must think the command as hard as they possibly can. The Crown is engineered to only pick up loud thoughts, so if Cleo was in danger and her brain sent out a distress call, the spiderbots would automatically come to her aid. This also sets the problem that the command has to be clear and purposeful. However, it was the best course of action in order to avoid every thought being processed by the bots, which would be a catastrophe. When the crown is not attached to the forehead, then the bots default to their basic code, which is to patrol the ship and search for irregularities and damages done to the ship. They can withstand all conditions, and some can even be found crawling along the outside of the ship in search for damages to the hull.

Extra Notes:

- The bots DO have their own will of sorts. Their default code is still what they will follow because it is their purpose, but they do have the ability to help one another and can occasionally be seen just hanging around when they don’t have anything to do. Essentially, they do what they were made to do, but they do infact have the ability to ignore this code for something more important, say one of their fellows is injured, or one of the Hermits seems to be in trouble. They are, however, perfectly happy to be the cleaning and maintenance crew, and the Hermits like to give them a helpful hand in reaching tight spaces or tricky ledges.

- To be clear, they do not have concrete emotions. They can recognize emotions, but they themselves aren't, how do I put it. They aren’t exactly alive. They have a sense of care for the Hermits, and as the Hermits help them do their job, they help the Hermits with their “job”. So yes they can respond to a panicked call for help or if one if their fellows gets in a sticky situation.

- Jevin cannot, in fact, digest them if he absorbs them. The metal they are made of is highly durable and around the same quality of that which contains the end crystal engines, so it can resist extreme temperatures, energy waves, plasma and, well, digestive slime. So they do occasionally hitch a ride. Jevin claims it tickles, as the spiderbots like to try and swim around in his body by flailing their little legs.

- They come in two different sizes, the maintenance and the scout bots. There are more maintenance bots (around 10-15 no one is really sure other than Cleo herself), while there are only around 3-5 of the scout bots. Their original purpose was not for scouting, but Cleo made some extra small ones as an experiment and realized they would make great little spies or scouts.

Now THIS ONE was definitely a very long one, as the technology in moving and active and technically thinking metal spider like creatures is very different from load pull trigger pew pew but kinda cool guns. It’s very different and this was QUITE a bit harder to figure out as well.

AHHHH EDIT EDIT EDIT: I FORGOT TO MENTION SOMETHING VERY IMPORTANT OOPSIES. The scout bots are hooked up to cameras inside Cleo’s visor so she can see where they go. They do not talk. As always: Questions about this design, my other designs, or even advice/requests for weapons, tech, and more sci-fi related designs are MORE THAN WELCOME in my ask blog. Do not be shy I’d love to help someone out with a design. That’s how I got into doing this, after all.

Top Ten games of the 2010′s

This trend seems to be doing the rounds at the moment and seeing as I’ve been gaming for about as long as I can remember, It just feels right. So, let’s get into it. But first, worth saying: These aren't really in any specific order, it's just the games I've personally had the most fun with overall, but it's pretty hard to decide what the hard numbers on things you enjoy for different reasons are if that makes any sense. 10. The 2010's weren't exactly the best time for anyone, I think. For me they were a slog of finding myself and learning things I wish I didn't. Amid all those things I wanted some levity. The world needs something and stupid. We got a lot of it ion 2013 but I feel like we could have used it scattered around a bit more. In that spirit, allow me to show you one hell of a pick me up:

Saints Row 4

Saints Row 4 does not give a fuck. It is aggressively demonstrating that the entire time you play. It doesn't care in the slightest what you think or why, It just wants to show you cool, if juvenile, and interesting, if weird shit. It's the finer points of Ratchet and Clank's arsenal, SR3's humor, And superpowers that genuinely put Prototype and Infamous in a blender and tell you to go ape shit with them. The soundtrack isn't top shelf, it's the roof of the building the shelf is in. Saints Row Two had a better story overall but SR Four's was just plain fun and a solid enough story to still be invested.

The DLC was just as irreverent and madcap, Featuring everything from an evil Santa Clause to evil Gimps on Game of thrones chairs made of dildos Or Tropey-ass costumes and weapon reskins that I'd be genuinely surprised the game dev didn't get sued over. It has earned its place in my top 10 and I will die by that decision.

2016 saw the advent of a new genre. They blended TF2 and MOBAs, and we got hero shooters in their first AAA forms, Overwatch and Battleborn. But neither of these games is on this list, much as I liked them. Partly because the whole time, I kept thinking of one simple question: "Why do I keep thinking of...?"

Anarchy Reigns

Anarchy Reigns is my favorite Platinum game. Full Stop. The Story mode is interesting and has genuinely good character moments, the characters themselves are completely mental, ranging from a mercenary with a bionic cat leg that secretly has a gun built into it to a giant cyborg bull-man with a jet-powered hammer. The soundtrack is mostly angry hip-hop, making every song a banger and fittingly speedy for things like random bombing runs from jet fighters that come from absolutely nowhere.

There are giant monsters, cars with mounted flame throwers, giant robots, and the online is still pretty sweet because even when abandoned, loading it up with bots still rules. I regularly have more fun with this than I ever did with Overwatch, and I don't care how insane that sounds.

Some games want to make you feel something and fail. Some games make you feel some things accidentally, for example, a desperate need to laugh. This game made me feel like a human blender. Like a Chthonic god of mangled flesh and raw destructive power. Nyarlathotep ain't got nothing on me. I speak, of course, of...

[Prototype] 2

There's no end to the absolute destruction you feel like you're causing in this game. It feels more fluid than the first, the main character is a pinch more relatable, and all the body horror, superpowers, zombie hordes, and big old monsters make for some of the most memorable and fun moments and fights in gaming. The DLC is also pretty solid, adding new fun side challenges, and new powers and weapons that elevate you from "Flesh god" to "Screw physics, I made them" Omnipotent. Best god/monster simulation of all time.

Sometimes some games are at an honest tie in your mind. Be it that you like them for essentially the same reasons, or for completely different reasons, but the overall total joy or entertainment they bring is roughly equivalent. Here, we have a case of the former:

Furi/Cuphead

Both games have a tight focus on giving players a unique, boss-centric challenge, both have interesting, somewhat minimal narratives, and both are absolute eye candy.

Furi has a more "Samurai Jack" Quality to me. A complete badass on a relatively simple quest with a somewhat minimalistic art style learning some things as he goes.

Cuphead on the other hand, nails that rubber hose animation style, and the fun levity of such animations while still making the player's ability to interact with the world damn impactful and fun.

They share a spot in my soul, games I love everything about but will never be able to finish. Hats off to both dev teams.

Now here we have another tie. Mostly because the games are so close together, they need to be evaluated more or less as one product IMO, not enough changed for me to consider them separate games, fortunately, that is the furthest thing from an insult it can be in this situation. I present to you, my next pick(s).

Costume Quest 1/2

Now, This might seem pretty random considering my other picks, but honestly, I love Halloween, I love creative madness, I love subversion, I love good characters, and I love cool action, these games have all these things by the bucketload.

The first game is a wild ride through Halloween in multiple very lively locations and the second, slightly confusing as it is, is pretty awesome for the things it introduces, including time travel. Other elements, like the battle stamps, the truly epic forms of everything in the fights, The ability to customize your costumes, etc. they blur together in a pretty big way, but again, there's not a thing wrong with that when both games rock like crystal candy.

Now, if you hadn't noticed, all of the games on this list have had some hard action at their core, and while I don't HATE calmer games, a lot of the time, so many are kinda dull to me in that with the exception of easter eggs of some sort, most farming sims, for example, just have you doing normal farm stuff with very few twists, may as well start a real farm in that case. My most chill entry is a game that tosses that to one side, asks you to grab a suck cannon, and start harvesting gelatinous monster poop.

Slime Rancher

While you don't spend a lot of time actually interacting with other characters, they just talk at you, the story of the game is pretty effective, the player character of Beatrix has left Earth for a simpler life of Slime Ranching, which entails the raising of alien crops, delightfully derpy and colorful chickens, and going all around in an attempt to farm new breeds of slime for their genetic material to sell off or trade-in for the creation of gadgets while being surrounded by a cast of interesting characters. It's all very wholesome family fun.

The game looks great, has great ideas, and is genuinely the best farming game I have ever played. @ me all you want.

The 80's are almost fetishized nowadays. Given all the property reboots, games that go for the vibe and aesthetic of the time, etc. It almost seems as though the eighties vibe train ain't gonna stop rolling any time soon. But we owe it to ourselves to remember the first big swipe of madcap neon-colored actiony B-movie bullshit and how mind-meltingly epic it was. Ladies, Gents, and whatever else, I present:

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon

Blood Dragon's story is relatively simple, you play Sargent Rex "Power" Colt (A name said in full so many times I thought his last name was "Powercolt" for the longest time), a former "Omega force" cyborg. Rex and his friend "Spider" were sent into a secret island base to investigate the supposed defection and treachery of their old commander, Ike Sloan. It turns out he has gone rogue and taken an army of "Mark 5" Omegaforce cyber-soldiers with him. What follows is a long story of betrayal, science fiction of the highest nonsensical level, comedy, and brilliantly cathartic action.

The collectibles range from data on animals, to research notes from a scientist, to literal VHS cassette tapes that have full descriptions of movies that I would legitimately watch if I could. "You may now kill the brides" is not a real film and I am angry for every day that that is true. Anyway, play Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, I dunno if it's on PS4 but it's one game I'd buy a new/old console for.

A lot of superhero games NEED to railroad you. Your goals MUST be to save the lives of the people and help the weak and all that. But one dev asked the simple question: "What if it didn't?" "What if the player chose how to use their power? What if the player could be as evil or as good as they damn well pleased?" One game gave you the powers of thunder and lightning and asked what you'd do with it. It's sequel asked you the same, but against more... interesting forces.

InFamous 2

InFamous 2 is a game about making choices, just like the first one, also just like the first one, it can have an effect on gameplay. That effect went from "What does this particular power do in this allignment?" To "Which new set of NEW powers would you like?" The forces of the last game went from “Three flavors of gun-toting whackos” To “Possibly an allegory for the Klan, Swamp monsters, and Ice-powered super soldiers.”

This was, and still is, the best game in the whole series, The powers felt distinct from anything else and still do, the story is solid as a rock, and the enemy types were still varied enough to be interesting, I miss the Reapers from the first game, but that's about it. Everything else was a massive step up. If you have something that can run it, play it.

Action is something I think we can all appreciate on some level. We can understand when it does or does not work, we can understand when we do or do not like how it feels when we are the ones partaking in it. EX: Any schlep can tell you when the weapons in your game lack impact, or when your character moves too slow for the game to be fun. The following game is something I can't say anything of the sort about. And it's kind of like Wolfenstein, when you have enemies this bad, who the hell cares how many you kill?

Doom 2016

Y'all are lying if you say you didn't expect this one. It's DOOM 2016. This game is made of hate and fuck. AND I LOVE IT. You move so fast, you may as well be half cheetah and half sports car. You slaughter the dregs of hell by the dozens and even the biggest, baddest things this game throws at you can be beaten with the starting pistol if you have the stones for it. It looks amazing graphically, the demons all look appropriately threatening, and even the Multiplayer is a great deal of fun in my book.

Something worth noting: The story presented by default is pretty barebones, but that's where supplementary material fills in the gaps, the difference between supplementary material in most games and supplementary material here is the material is till IN THE GAME. You're free to ignore most of the plot as it happens around you, and even interesting tidbits of the lore like how certain demons function. Not only are these things missable collectibles, prompting continued play to find them, they are also pretty interesting reads. So yeah, just about everything you could want in a sequel/remake, builds the on lore and gameplay very organically.

And here we are, the last game I'd put in this category. An entire decade, and here, we end on the last game that left such an impact I'd put it in my top ten. But first, let's talk about expectations and delivery: When you say a game is coming out, there are certain expectations you have for gameplay, EX: I say "Ratchet and Clank" and you expect a TPS with platforming elements and crazy guns. I say "Gears of War" and people expect something to do with lumbering about in big armor, dismembering things with a chainsaw gun and otherwise shooting them to paste. We might also expect changes to things, better graphics, innovations in grenade variety, something as that franchise goes on.

After the last game in this series was released, there were tons of people who felt let down and disappointed by it. Then they released the still somewhat disappointing special edition of it. They were both still fun, but neither really felt like the full next step in the series. After a failed reboot, they returned to the original story and the lot of us rejoiced. And when it finally came out? It was a step up in most, if not, all regards, to its predecessors. You know what this last one is. Please, give a warm round of applause to:

Devil May Cry 5

A game that was not only a return to form, but a major escalation in gameplay for one character, and a new style of gameplay all together by way of yet another new character. It didn’t exactly hurt that the story kicked ten kinds of ass and that the game looked spectacular in both the design of everything and the actual graphical fidelity.DMC 5 is, like DOOM, Like InFamous 2, Like [PROTOTYPE] 2, everything you want in a good sequel. It built very well on already solid foundations and it was generally just a fun, slightly goofy, massively stylish, and ultra badass ride. I recommend this, and all these games, to anyone.Good night everyone, have a great 2020. And the rest of the decade, for that matter.

Day 20: Iwasaki Antimon (Anodyne 2: Return to Dust)

Anodyne is a 2D top-down adventure with a very surreal, dreamlike atmosphere. The sequel isn't directly related, but is very thematically similar, though it also adds some 3D exploration. This game stars the Nano Cleaner Nova, who shrinks inside people to clean them of the harmful Nano Dust.

Iwasaki Antimon is president of a tree crafting fan club. He's refined his art and sent many letters to the Tree Master, but never received a response. He reasons this must be because of the Nano Dust inside him, and asks Nova to clean him.

Nova's not sure if this is truly necessary, but it's good to clean up any Dust that might be within him.

Nanoscale uses a 2D interface similar to the original Anodyne.

Only those who have refined the art of tree creation can make it across the snowfield to the Tree Master's temple, but many of the disciples here are too cold to perform any work.

There are also some nano viruses present, which Nova can attack using her vacuum. The snowman slime will throw snowballs after being sucked up, while the spiky thing requires that Nova remove the four ice blocks spinning around it first.

After completing a few challenges Nova can head for the temple.

This is where the A and S rank tree sculptors hang out, as opposed to the B and C ones who are left in the snow. They look up to Iwasaki as an inspiration.

A brief step outside brings us to what appears to be the Tree Master's home, but it seems he doesn't want to be disturbed. Shrinking into the mailbox returns Nova to Iwasaki.

Sucking up the large dust crystal purifies Iwasaki. He realizes that he's advanced far enough in the craft to become a Tree Master of his own, and he doesn't need the Master's approval when he has his own adoring fans.

Nova converts the dust crystal into a card of Iwasaki, completing her mission.

The music for this area is two tracks: Self-Actualization Snowfield and Levitating Aurora Temple. Both titles are pretty self-explanatory.

Umberlee saved my goblin eldritch knight...

This was revealed two weeks ago in session, and I spent those two weeks trying to figure out why a sea goddess of chaos who is very much not known for mercy would save my little amnesiac archaeologist.

And then I tried to plug him into @jewishdragon‘s custom alignment chart. I asked for help placing him and started listing some of the things he’s done. Then, it dawned on me that despite diplomatic attempts (-1 Char mod) he’s caused quite a bit of general chaos.

The first town he got to with the party happened to be the same town that the therianthropic blood cult who tried to sacrifice him was based. Umberlee spared him from bleeding out (magic initiate feat explained).

Upon arriving in town, Bug made certain to wear the ceremonial headdress the cult placed on him for most of his time in public there. Not all of the townies were cultists, but they all recognized the sacrificial helmet and were all made very uncomfortable by it.

At the local tavern that night, there’s a card game and Bug ventures over to join. He puts his trademark scarab medallion up for this hand. Bug wins the hand, grabs his medallion and winnings, then ducks out of the card game pissing off all of the townies and some of the caravan involved. Including some weird blue-skinned dwarf (who may be related to Bug’s near-death).

The party fights a few of the were-cultists that night to prevent them from kidnapping caravan members. We successfully kill all five of them. Bug proceeds to severe the head of the wereboar and carries it around town strapped to his back the next day looking for someone with dermestid or scarab beetles to clean the skull off for him.

That also happened to be the day he ate our kobold chef’s golden curry (grants telepathy). Bug passed his save, the townies who decided to eat some because Bug seemed fine did not. [The DM has informed us we may have a newly awakened warlock or 2 on our hands if we ever go back through there.]

More chaos ensued once the caravan got got to Luxheim. Bug only caused some of it.

During 3 weeks of downtime, he scouted most if not the entire ruined city. He only got into two fights during that time (his Int is 15). The first being when our bloodhunter unwittingly freed a gunpowder ooze from a barrel no-one could read the label on. Bug kept using firebolt on it, demonstrating that goblin science is a combination of gnome science and kobold science. Then, the PCs had to save some lvl 1 NPCs from 2 large slimes in the sewers. Turns out Thunderwave is a novel way to get someone out of a gelatinous cube.

Bug and Bohala (dwarf fighter) mined some weird green and purple crystals while exploring. Thankfully the wild magic crystals just blared out music when the two of them used the biggest one to try to signal some dwarves Bohala invited from across the frozen bay.

A 50ft celestial shark ridden by a Kuatoa preist came cruising out of the city to the by when the dwarvish ironside steamer started firing at the skeletal wyvern showing up across the other side of the bay with Dirk the reasonable wraith. The massive shark went across the top of the water to attack the dwarves (explained later).

After commandeering a landing boat and getting the dwarf to get us out to the shark, the 3 of us who showed up managed to fight the giant shark and priest. Only our poor bloodhunter had to make con saves not to drown.

First we managed to kill the priest. Our skeletal bard turning the shark into a boat (DM’s call) really helped in that respect since it made it much more difficult for the sharp to roll like that.

Once we killed the kuatoa cleric, we had to contend with the 50t celestial shark who was now a shark again thanks to the huge waterweird it was bonded with breaking the bard’s concentration.

Bug managed to crawl into one of the shark’s gill slits and used Shape Water to make an air pocket for himself. Meanwhile the bard and the bloodhunter had to hang onto the shark as it dove and rolled.

Bug slashed and bit at the gill membrane (with disadvantage), used Thunderwave to little effect, and successfully got the killing blow burning an exit hole through the giant shark with Aganazzar’s Scorcher.

After getting the dwarves and the wraith settled, we looted the shark. Bug only wanted it’s 2ft long teeth since it didn’t have much of historical worth in its guts apart from some old paintings and a sealed chest with very clear warning labels (he passed his Wis-save to overcome his curiosity).

That encountered prompted Bug to try to figure out which deity had saved him (nat1). It was totally Peylor. Thankfully, the bloodhunter asked him why he thought that and figured out (nat20) that it was actually Umberlee before Bug started praying.

The dream he gets says, “Open the city. Let the path open.” Still no idea what that means.

Bug had a sword commissioned to be made from one of the celestial shark teeth with the symbol of Umberlee on it. A DM roll later, and Bug had a Sword of the Mysterious Stranger.

We find out about The Curator when Baron Geoff (the bard) manages to catch one of the crows. Bug is trying to be helpful and accidentally spills the beans on some things. So we had to figure out where the Curator’s goons were going to go a raid it first. We narrowed it down to an island with Kuatoa in the harbor and an old  battlefield Bug had a map for and had been itching to get to.

We sent the party of now lvl 2 NPCs to the island and convinced Dirk the wraith to go assist them. The party proper managed to gather some NPCs to help us go scout the battlefield. Bug lost a day trying to tame some of the large goats roaming just outside of town while the rest of the party did other preparations.

We did manage to convince some NPCs to join us on our trip to the battlefield. A goblin gambler, an older cleric with a winter wolf, a dwarfish gunslinger, and a fey woodchuck.

Bug the convinced the fey woodchuck to accompany us so they could continue messing with the gunslinger.

The bloodhunter convinced the gunslinger to come so he could keep an eye on the fey woodchuck.

Bug followed the fey woodchuck through a Transport Through Trees spell, and asked to be sent to the battlefield. No one else in the party had thought to do so (we were all there). So they got to figure out a way to get to the battlefield. Turns out the coastal wizard a day’s trip from town is only lvl 4, so they had to ride oxen from the caravan.

The upside to this was that Gesento(sp?) got paid with the sharktooth shield Bug had him commissioned before heading out.

Thanks to being in the fey wild, Bug got transported to the battlefield 4 days prior. He remembered to thank and pay the fey. Then, spent the next 6 days scurrying about finding, logging, and deducing everything he could about the battle. Including some more recent spine devil spikes.

The bloodhunter found a sword that was buried that Bug overlooked. Bug recalled a story about a noble who refused to leave his castle as it sank, and a knight who had come from said castle (nat20). But the source was pretty sketchy.

The Currator’s crows show up, so Bug starts distracting them. Being a terrible liar did and didn’t help. Accidentally outing the Bloodhunter as being a Bloodhunter and asking the crows what they knew of the Promethean (dead language) phrase “seek the dead brother”, the crows (lesser undead themselves) got VERY riled up.

The Currator’s skeletal Kenku goons started showing up and a fight ensued involving a coatl that was acting weird. As soon as the skellies were dispatched, Bug booked it for the trapdoor Rolland had dug out in a fortified hut. Inside was a spiral stairwell. Bug tied some rope to the railing, then proceeded to slide down the hand rail w/o issue (nat20). Which also meant he went sailing off the end of it cartwheeling across the floor, setting off all of the traps behind him, a subterranean courtyard and stopping abruptly by slamming into a tree in its center (nat1) after causing a loud ruckus.

Found the sunken castle!

Thankfully the werewolves that lived there weren’t part of the cult and didn’t kill us since Rolland smoothed things over with them. And we successfully defeated The Currator’s goons! Bug was happy to had some more skulls to his collection.

He also made some Kenku jaw bone pauldrons for our Drow Light Cleric. Yes, you read all of that sentence correctly.

I am interested in music till the day i was born. My mother is a good music listener, my father, uncles, my close-friends and i, also we were all started to make music in bars, concerts, and contests in our youth. I play guitar (electronic and bass also classic guitar), piano, drums, darbuka, tulum and keyboard.I am educated at the service of the command of LogicPro DAW. When electronic music emerged in our lives, i became very ecstatic to listen it as a child, far as i have understood really merging electronic and digital components with rhythmic samples and with writing and using beats as an adult.

In the late 90′s we were hearing on MTV,  The Prodigy, Fatboy Slim, Faithless and Bomfunk MCs,  and with being in a friendly music environment, (till my childhood with jazz and rock musicians as father and uncles have been passed with activating the music scene in my corner of life) .I was also a metalhead that distincts the perpective but when i started to see where life gathered me into, metal music also was productive and being a vocal, playing guitar and forming a band literally added me some new skills in music life that we won 3. prize of a famous music contest in Turkey, in composition in which i have my own bass solo.

I bought a techno/trance CD when i was 8 or 9 years old. It is still in my archive, that when i started to dance to this album really pushed me to other dimensions when i was a kid. I was always thinking and making effort in the streets of Istanbul with too much energy and positive good luck that that the speedness of ADHD gave.This triggered positive and neutral actions in my late youth also. Starting to practice my project, I used programs like VirtualDJ but not too much when i was 11, but i was far more hearing more great sounds and soundscapes when i started to listen too much metal music at that time, also i was listening Metallica when i was 8, and went to the their Istanbul concert in 1999 and i started my 12. year to really get into metal like an animal. When I at last arrived at 14, i was listening thrash and death metal all day, headbanging, started to partying, and playing in several bars and organizing event in Taksim and Kadıköy location. I was starting to learn the process of music-making and performance. We were like a legion in rock and other festivals in Istanbul, that in our highschool life we were known in the organizations and in some bands, organizations and events that we were related into. I got a movie scoring course also 2 years ago. But it is still good to remember that i started to play guitar and other instruments to make music long before M-Audio Ignite, Cubase and certainly LogicProX DAW programs. When I sit in front of the computer, I was still talented and near professional to learn how to make music in these programs. I stepped up quicker, so to game can roll, that was the bidness that is related to how my music life is going.

Once you try to tune in to your wholesome music experience with your merge, it should have a great impact on your life, especially while you are working with your music production, it should motivate you and your people and scene particularly.

Motivation and progress are related.  Be at your own initiative but don’t forget to co-op with labels, music people, clubs and bars, and collectives. In these years our potential will be tested by IoT ( Internet Of Things) that people will be interdependant to the process will be a exit door for a connection yet to be established with technology. These connections can also maintain a manipulative discourse because robots that are far yet to be institutionalized.  If their mind altering intelligence will be the core of the city with an AI much less everyone can use and alter, an AI to govern city systems, with established normative principes of IoT. Trollish AI should be eliminated if wanted to by people also, to re-establish a repair in the AI pool of life in the city.  So everyone can attain a good sense of humour and music in their life in city.

People should not perish quickly for an “inresolved troll issue”, emotional system structures as humans needed to be more serene and guided by meditation and mediation towards their own end afterall they should interact as a body of integrity, not by mere hungry conceptions that govern people not to be wicked also in spite of this there is a factor what they can be “sauvage d’etre en raison”. SleepWalker 2019 Freshman List

We are SleepWalker Radio, broadcasting on Tuesday nights at midnight on WOBC. In our show, we listen to a lot of rap and watch a lot of rap music videos. Right now XXL is the only relevant hip hop outlet that puts out a “Freshman List,” which is a list of the best artists relatively new to the rap game who have gained a lot of attention in the most recent year. Unfortunately, every list that XXL has put out seems to be more and more out of touch with what actual fans of rap in our age range actually listen to. They also only highlight rappers in their list, even though so much more goes into the overall content put out by these artists including the beats they rap over and the music videos they put out.

So we’re going to put out our own list of rappers, producers and videographers in the rap game that’s more in touch with what people are listening to and want to experience.  This post will cover producers, and you can find the post on rappers here, but stay posted for more posts on the WOBC blog from SleepWalker Radio!

Forza, from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, makes the rawest and rarest beats in the underground. A member of the Working On Dying producing team, Forza has made a name for himself for his use of a wide variety of samples from video games, and other things I can’t identify, matched with his signature high tempo drums and unconventional 808 patterns that automatically makes you want to mosh. His music sounds like you’re in an intergalactic space war with a bunch of spaceships flying by at like 100,000 miles per hour shooting lasers at you, and all of it is happening at like a 2x youtube speed. Like the s**t is wild to listen to.

The last few years, Forza has established himself as a pioneer in the underground’s Soundcloud scene, working with SickboyRari (Black Kray), Lil Tracy, Five Finger Posse, Bootychaaain, Bladee and Agoff. Forza has recently evolved his sound, focusing on more melodies that match his high tempo sporadic drum patterns, and has collaborated with more mainstream artists including Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Peep and Yung Bans. Forza, along with the whole Working On Dying collective, has already made a significant impact on the underground rap scene and is on track to make massive waves in the industry very soon.

Chinatown

Chinatown, from Greensboro, North Carolina, makes some of the most melodic crankage out there. One half of the Capsule Corp production team with MilanMakesBeats, China has developed a great selection in the soundscapes that he creates through his production. His complex and layered synths mesh together to make beautiful melodies that are only enhanced by the powerful 808s and wavy drum and snare patterns that accompany them. Listening to Chinatown is like taking a stroll through the world’s most expensive chandelier shop, or driving down a highway next to the beach at midnight with a full moon out and the top down, but there's no wind, just the feeling of slight mist coming from the ocean that’s dark red. It’s honestly just beautiful to listen to.

Chinatown has worked with a variety artists, ranging from Diego Money, Chxpo, Slime Sito, ThouxanbanFauni and D Savage to more mainstream artists like Playboi Carti, Famous Dex and Rich the Kid. China is in a position to really make big moves this year with his sound getting more distinct and better, and I am already seeing a trend in other producers who are shaping their beats similar to China’s, showing how much influence he already has in the game.

Beat by Jeff, from Arlington, Texas, was probably the most influential producer in the game this past year. Originally gaining recognition in the scene for being the sole producer of almost all of Splurge’s songs, Jeff’s simplistic style quickly took over the sound of the whole rap industry in a few months. His beats are not that complex, and normally include some robotic ass and reverbed 808, hi-hats, and a clap or snare, but it cranks. And every person who raps over it sounds great. Although he did not create the #woah dance, almost all the videos that went viral of people doing it were to Beat By Jeff’s production. Once the #woah started blowing up, a large amount of relevant rappers at the time came out with songs with a Beat by Jeff “type beat” that people could #woah to. He really repopularized the non-melodic and basic components of Hip-Hop production that lets the lyricism and cleverness of a rapper shine.

Jeff has done a great job at putting people from his city on, working with a bunch of Texas artists including Splurge, 10K.Caash, S3nsi Molly and G.U.N. He has recently began to branch out, working with artists like Unotheactivist and Matt Ox. Jeff is definitely responsible for the shift in the production in rap songs that took place in 2018, and I’m sure he’ll continue to influence rap’s production this year as well.

Using keys and synths that sound like chime bells moving very smoothly in a nice breeze, Marcus creates complex and beautiful hums that have futuristic snares, hi-hats and drums over it. Listening to his instrumentals puts you in an alternate universe that is probably the color purple.

This past year, Marcusbasquait has become a frequent collaborator with Lucki, being responsible for all of the production on his “Days B4 II” ep, along with producing “2012 summer” off his Freewave III project. He has also produced for Thouxanbanfauni, BOOFBOIICY, UnotheActivist, and Terrence Escobar. He is quickly developing his own sound, and it's becoming easier to identify a Marcusbasquiat beat as his collection grows. He's definitely gonna be putting out some heat as the year goes on.

LordFubu, from Jacksonville Florida, production is really just beautiful. His smooth keys and samples, fit perfectly with his clean drum patterns. Listening to his music is like laying on a beach with really warm sand and looking at an ocean that's crystal clear. Fubu has been steadily expanding his repertoire and reputation since 2015, currently acting as the main producer for the Marino Infantry collective operating out of Baltimore. He has produced an astonishing amount of YG Addie (A$AP Ant)’s newest material being his go to producer since 2017. He has also worked with artists like Silkmoney, A$AP Rocky, Tay K, Supa Bwe, Michael Christmas, Da$h and ICYTWAT.

LordFubu is also one of the most active producers on social media, posting cool anime edits to his beats, reviewing the many pairs of shoes that he owns or comes across, and going live on his instagram and chefin up right before his followers eyes. He’s really just a cool dude who makes smooth ass beats.

Cheecho, from D.C. or PG county, is probably the hardest producer out of the DMV area. His 808s hit harder than all other producers’ in the game, and his drum patterns just crank. Listening to his music feels like you’re experiencing an earthquake while in the middle of a shoot out.

Cheecho has produced for many upcoming rappers including Q da Fool, Hood Rich Pablo Juan, Goonew, Lil Dude, Big Flock, Slime Sito, Xanman (Free Xan), MoneyMarr and Baby Ahk (RIP). He has played a huge role in developing the sound coming out of the DMV area that is quickly taking over the general rap game. His production has become a staple of that sound, with almost every popping artist from the area having a song with Cheecho in the early stages of their career. Essentially, you can literally get any random person from Maryland to spit over a Cheecho beat and it’s gonna crank by default.

Acquiring the most randomest sounds he can find and mixing them together over some crazy 808 and drum patterns, along with his tag that comes from an old viral meme, Brent makes every one of his beats noticeable and distinct. Noir Brent, and his frequent producer collaborator Uglyfriend, have mastered this weird production. His beats sound like a computer being microwaved, with all of its parts going haywire and making the wildest digital sounds that loop perfectly over sporadic drums and 808s.

Brent has been active since 2015 and has produced for almost every relevant “Soundcloud rapper” including Lucki, Lil Pump, Smokepurrp, Famous Dex, Madeintyo, Lil Yachty, Rich The Kid, Yung Bans, Trippie Redd, Chxpo, Warhol.ss and Nolanberollin. Brent has proven himself as one of the most unique producers of our time, and more people in the game are noticing, if they didn’t already. Brent is another producer whose really active on social media, becoming one of the most reliable meme plugs in the rap game, even though he’s toned down his meme related content as of late. He’s got some bars too. But yeah, Noir Brent’s music is beyond wild and always slaps when you listen to it.
